Shakespeare-san?

If you’re into this kind of thing, you’ve probably run across these already, so forgive me for being behind the curve. 😀 For the rest of us, check this out: UK-based SelfMadeHero publishers is printing a series of Shakespeare plays in manga form. And why not, eh? They look pretty cool…as with many modern productions of Shakespeare, they seem to be throwing in some modern-day setting changes and other details, but the text is unchanged.

So far, they’ve completed Romeo & Juliet (set in modern-day Tokyo), Hamlet (set in a “cyberworld”), Richard III, and The Tempest. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is set to be available in February, and more (they say) will follow.

If you’d like more information, check out their web site, selfmadehero.com—they’ve got news, sample pages, desktop pictures, and more. You might also be interested in their budding social network, where it looks like they’re posting news and some behind-the-scenes info. about the project.
