National Public Radio’s Melissa Block interviewed Pulitzer Prize winner and U.S. Poet Laureate Ted Kooser this afternoon. In the course of the interview, Mr. Kooser had some interesting things to say about his writing and revision process. You know how I’m always talking about listening to artists and writers for inspiration, encouragement, and general insight into your own creative processes? Well here’s your chance to get started! 😛 I’ve excerpted a bit for you here in which he talks about both the rush of having “the pieces fall into place” in a piece of writing, but also the hard work and tinkering necessary to put the final polish on a piece.
